WORLD TRIP DAY 5- night on the town

After dinner at the restaurant we went home and got another layer of warmth and then walked through the town.  The street seemed to be more crowded than in the day, but the weatherr was also better.  People dress up to go to town.  All through the town are water spouts running free for people to wash their hands or drink the water.  Since the city is 90% Muslim, these have to be readily available for cleanliness is close to godliness for them. There is a famous fountain in the middle of the city that has water constantly running.  I’ve watched many people wash their hands and faces in the spout just outside the apartment before praying at the graveyard.  I drank from the spout just outside one of the oldest and most famous mosques in town.  It is said that if you drink from it you will return!!!  (Taylor made sure I drank from it!)

Night life is very active.  There was a “hoppin” pub on every corner and in the middle of the  block.  One particular one caught my eye!

We did stop for some gelato.  And, yes, it is amazing!  I had the cappuccino flavor, only one scoop, even though I could have inhaled many scoops of many flavors!

A few other city sights:

Catholic Church

Part of town that the streets are  being reworked.
