WORLD TRIP DAY 5-meeting and dinner at Restorar Kjbe

The day started with a gathering of people at Josh and Taylor’s.  The “apple brown betty” was a hit.  Josh had also gotten something from the bakery.  The Bosnian version of pigs in a blanket.  Only their blanket is really big and the pig is very little!

We had some time with friends.

Then Josh and Taylor took me out to a very special restaurant in the city on the other side of the valley.  By reservations.

All the famous people go there when they come to town!  It is the building in the photo up the hill behind Josh and Taylor.  They were waiting for us at the door.

We had all the traditional Bosnian foods. The meal began with fresh whole wheat bread with nuts and slices of cheese with olive oil.  We made a dipping sauce with the great Balsamic vinegar and extra olive oil.

I especially enjoyed the fact that each dish had its own unique flavor and the plate was so colorful.

We were able to go upstairs to view the mountainside.  I spotted the graveyard around Josh’s house.  We watched a lamb  roasting on a spit.

It’s front legs were used to hold its stomach together!

They had a wall of photos, one of which is the library before it was bombed. I felt a bit like I was looking at the twin towers in NYC.  It’s reconstruction is still in process. And a picture of the river before they straightened it.  Here’s the view from the balcony:
